The Colca Valley is one of the most important attractions in Peru. The Colca Valley has a number of access points, with the most promoted routes on the left and right banks. The High Route is an alternative access point to Colca Valley that has not yet been developed as extensively. The High Route is comprised of the districts of Sibayo, Yanque, and Madrigal. Ensuring that tourism generates benefits for the High Route communities requires deliberate actions to provide positive outcomes. This pilot project on the Route of the Colca Valley is designed to develop programs, diagnostic tools, guides, and training materials that can be adopted by destination communities throughout Peru.
